Divine Glory Retreat Centre, Zoumun, organized a Mothers’ Fasting Retreat on 29 August 2026, with the participation of mothers and faithful from the surrounding communities. The retreat was a spiritually enriching day focused on Christian suffering, prayer, confession, the witness of St. Monica, and discovering God’s blessing amid suffering.
The programme began with the Holy Rosary, led by Srs. Carmel and Sylvia, followed by a preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation by Fr. Saji VC. The participants then took part in prayer and worship, along with opportunities for Sacramental Confession throughout the morning.
Fr. Saji VC gave a talk on Christian suffering, helping the participants understand suffering in the light of Christian faith and the Cross of Christ. The session encouraged the mothers to face their personal, family, and life struggles with faith, hope, and trust in God's providence.
The Holy Mass was celebrated by Fr. John Joseph VC, with a reflection on St. Monica and the vocation of mothers. The life of St. Monica was presented as an inspiring example of a mother's perseverance in prayer, patience, sacrifice, and unwavering faith for the salvation and conversion of her family.
The participants also joined in the Divine Mercy devotion and later in Eucharistic Adoration, led by Fr. Saji VC, on the theme “How to Turn Suffering into Blessing.” The Adoration provided a profound opportunity for the mothers to surrender their burdens, families, struggles, and hopes before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
The retreat concluded with refreshments and departure. The day was marked by prayer, repentance, spiritual renewal, fellowship, and renewed confidence in God’s mercy and providence.
The Mothers’ Fasting Retreat was a meaningful spiritual experience, reminding every participant that suffering, when united with Christ, can become a source of grace, transformation, strength, and blessing.
